10% of the country’s territory is a World Heritage Site

Andorra is a state with a very small extension, but with an immense patrimonial interest. Indeed, the Principality has several elements that make it a place that every nature lover must visit at least once in their life. More specifically, the country has three points of which it is particularly proud.

First it seems necessary to talk about the Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley. This point was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004. This title declares the valley as an outstanding universal value site, since it perfectly represents the harmony between man and nature.

On the other hand, the country has the Ordino Valley, which was also declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2020. This is because the valley is one of the areas that has been least altered by human activity. The title guarantees that it is an area where you can directly observe human evolution that respects nature, and it makes sure that it continues to do so.

Finally, the fallas of Andorra have also been awarded with a recognition from the UNESCO, this time the title of Intangible Heritage of Humanity since 2015. The fallas are celebrated on the night of June 23 with a fire show and the burning of bonfires to welcome the new season.

For all this, Andorra is a destination of great natural, cultural and heritage interest.
