Borda del Tremat

La Borda del Tremat offers a homemade and traditional cuisine style full of intense flavors and aromas. One of its specialties is grilled food: meats, octopuses, potatoes, vegetables ... All delicately cooked with fire and surrounded in a hut's typical atmosphere, with original wooden beams, rural tools as decoration and sturdy tables full of life and color. Some of the place's statement dishes: civet, oxtail, grilled octopus, cod or canned snails. It also offers different starters, salads, mountain dishes and artisan desserts, such as Catalan cream or coulant, which are made on the spot. The local also works with seasonal products, such as mushrooms or chicory, and has a wide variety of wines to liven up each dish. Really, there is a little bit of everything, and indeed, one of the Borda del Tremat's main objectives is to offer a varied menu following the criteria of high quality and freshness. On top of that, most of its dishes are suitable for celiacs who have a low level of the disease. La Borda del Tremat dates back to the beginning of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1937). The story says that a Galician man came to the Principality fleeing the war and asked for asylum from a peasant family in Encamp. They came to an agreement, and in exchange for food and a roof under his head, the Galician promised to build their hut. From 1979, the hut ceased to be a home and became a restaurant. The current owners have been running the establishment for 4 years.
