In a world increasingly aware of the need to preserve the environment, the responsible management of hazardous waste emerges as a fundamental pillar of global sustainability.
With growing concern about the consequences of hazardous waste worldwide, we highlight the essential role played by the Grup REFESA in the Principality of Andorra, putting at our disposal extensive, adequate and prepared facilities, specialised machinery, expert knowledge with highly trained and qualified professionals, rigorous safety protocols and an unrivalled guarantee, providing a comprehensive solution for the different needs of dangerous waste management. They ensure that every step of the process meets the highest standards of safety and sustainability.
Firstly, a hazardous waste is defined as any material that, due to its intrinsic characteristics, can cause harm to human health or the environment if not properly managed.
These materials may contain toxic, flammable, corrosive substances or other properties that make them hazardous. It is therefore important to entrust their management to companies with qualified personnel and appropriate machinery for their correct management.
At the Grup REFESA, they manage a wide range of hazardous waste, providing specialised solutions for its safe and sustainable management depending on each one. Some of the most relevant hazardous waste they deal with is asbestos waste. Fibre cement with asbestos is a material that used to be used in construction, and we find it present in elements such as asbestos cement sheets, planters, chimneys, etc.
To carry out this service, Grup REFESA is registered in the RERA (Register of Companies at Risk of Asbestos) and is authorised to transport, store and export waste containing asbestos fibres. They also have the material, the qualified human team and the mandatory official training to ensure the safe and legal management of this complex waste, in order to provide the maximum safety guarantees to both the client and the workers.
They also manage other hazardous waste such as: batteries and lead batteries, contaminated oil filters, motor oil, brake fluid, solvents, end-of-life tyres, paint waste, soil and contaminated packaging. They have specialised procedures for the collection and safe recycling of these polluting materials, ensuring meticulous, safe and sustainable management of these wastes.
Currently, and with the will to continue evolving and improving in waste management, Grup REFESA has been the first company authorised to treat waste electrical equipment in Andorra that has SF6 gas, with a nominal treatment capacity of 80 units/year.
It is worth mentioning that sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) is an odourless, colourless, non-flammable and non-toxic gas, widely used in the electrical industry to prevent short circuits and accidents, as well as to guarantee the functions of cut-off and electrical insulation in high voltage.
The main environmental problem of SF6 gas is that once released it is a greenhouse effect intensifying agent, having a global warming potential and a very long lifetime in the atmosphere, that is why it is very important to carry out a proper management.
By Grup REFESA , you not only get a service, but a guarantee of commitment to the responsible management of hazardous waste. With extensive experience, qualified personnel and adapted solutions, they are the ideal choice. To entrust your needs for "Transport, Management and Treatment of Hazardous Waste" is to contribute to a more sustainable future.
